Nelson City Council welcomes you to join with us in celebrating Matariki – the star cluster that signals Māori New Year.
The festival opens at 6pm and will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.
Join us for karakia, messages from Mayors Rachel Reese and Tim King, followed by a kapa haka performance by Te Kapa o Kura Tai Waka.
Light art projections will take place on Civic House from 5.45pm-9pm and at 7pm a fireworks display will take place at Neale Park. Both of these last two events can be enjoyed in person or via the livestream.
We hope you enjoy the celebrations as we reflect on the past, acknowledge the present and look forward to the future.
